Los martillos hidráulicos se montan sobre maquinarias –excavadoras, retroexcavadoras y miniexcavadoras– y gracias a la presión hidráulica o combustible, generalmente nitrógeno con aceite, impactan sobre objetos y superficies.

Función

Este accesorio funciona gracias al concepto de ingeniería hidráulica. El combustible se captura y gracias a un motor ejerce presión en todas las direcciones.

Descripción

Los rompedores hidráulicos están compuestos por un conjunto de partes mecánicas y superficiales que cumplen con su objetivo principal: romper estructuras.

Dichas partes son: cabezales (uno delantero y otro trasero) y un cilindro de montaje.

El cabezal trasero es, en realidad, una cámara donde se almacena el combustible. Dicho combustible, que como mencionamos es usualmente nitrógeno, potencia el impacto de la herramienta y mejora notablemente el rendimiento.

En cuanto al cabezal delantero, formado por piezas como casquillos y pesadores, funciona como enlace entre el instrumento y una pica; barra que golpea la superficie.

Finalmente tenemos el cilindro de montaje, compuesto por un pistón y una válvula de control que se mueve de arriba hacia abajo gracias a energía hidráulica.

También funciona gracias a: amortiguadores, acumuladores, portajuntas, carcasa, conducciones de aceite, placa de desgaste, casquillos y pasador de retención.

Origen

El martillo hidráulico tiene tiempo en el mercado de accesorios para maquinarias de construcción. Se creó a partir de la Ley Pascal de Blaise Pascal, un físico-matemático conocido por descubrimientos en el área de ingeniería mecánica.

El principio explica que, cuando se ejerce presión sobre un fluido, este se transmite con la misma magnitud en todas las direcciones en cada parte del fluido.

Por tanto, cuando se ejerce presión en el recipiente, la cantidad de fuerza exponencial se transmite con la misma magnitud en todas las direcciones del martillo.

Proceso que, a grandes rasgos, induce la pica para que impacte sobre las superficies.

Usos

Es común en trabajos como: demolición y destrucción en tamaños más pequeños. Ejemplo: cuando se quiere reducir una piedra grande en trozos pequeños.

En términos más específicos, se usa para ramas como: construcción de carreteras, aceras y bordillos. Roca o suelo congelado, escalado, túneles, excavación y trincheras.

También para rotura de estructuras, como el hormigón, y para quebrada de materiales.

Ahora que sabemos las nociones básicas de la herramienta de percusión hidráulica, es momento de conocer los parámetros de elección para este accesorio.

Aunque son indispensables, populares, resistentes y un compañero de construcción que no puede faltar en proyectos de excavación, rotura o demolición, elegir el mejor martillo hidráulico requiere un conjunto de conocimientos.

Son elegidos, normalmente, por técnicos especializados, ya que notan los parámetros adecuados a las necesidades del proyecto.

Tipo de martillo

El rompedor hidráulico no es un modelo universal ni mucho menos. En el mercado encontrarás diferentes accesorios de acuerdo al trabajo y a los resultados esperados.

De hecho, los cinceles de los martillos cambian si se trata de trabajo de demolición o de excavación. Esto es importante, ya que si compras sin considerar el tipo, luego te harás con un accesorio de lujo, pero que no te funcionará.

Sin embargo, no siempre utilizan únicamente el nitrógeno. También usan alternativas como el aceite. Cuando vayas a comprar, pregunta si son compatibles con otros líquidos para alimentar el accesorio y mejorar el rendimiento.

Reparación

Al comprar el accesorio hay que pensar a futuro. Tienes que prever inconvenientes a largo plazo. Aunque los rompedores son eficientes y resistentes, no duran para siempre. La fuerza y la presión motivada por la percusión van dañando tanto los componentes externos, como las piezas internas.

Los martillos necesitarán mantenimiento y cambio de piezas de manera constante. Pregunta si los accesorios vienen con repuestos para el mantenimiento.

Por ejemplo, algunos vienen con piezas extras para sustituirlas. Otros con lubricantes de engrase que se aplican cada dos horas en medio del funcionamiento.
