La arquitectura efímera es un estilo arquitectónico muy común en nuestros días. Este, además de ser usado en la arquitectura, también suele implementarse en el diseño, la construcción y el arte. ¿Pero qué es la arquitectura efímera? Vamos a descubrirlo.
Cuando se habla de arquitectura efímera se hace referencia al tipo de arquitectura cuyo diseño y construcción no es permanente. Por otra parte, también puede decirse de aquella arquitectura que, aunque no se define como temporal, termina siéndolo dado que esta ha sido construida con materiales no aptos para el entorno en el que se encuentra.
Si, la arquitectura efímera posee fecha de vencimiento. Es un estilo de arquitectura pensado con una duración no mayor a unos pocos meses.
¿Por qué es especial la arquitectura efímera?
Justo ahora este concepto arquitectónico está en auge. Si bien es probable que desconozcamos su significado exacto, es común encontrar este tipo de arquitectura en galerías de arte, en exposiciones, incluso en la calle. Lo especial la arquitectura efímera es su capacidad de experimentar. Estamos en medio de una corriente vanguardista que le da al artista la capacidad de tomar riesgos yendo mucho más lejos en sus creaciones.

Por lo general, al escuchar hablar de arquitectura es fácil relacionarlo con una exposición o galería de arte. Pero no este concepto va más allá. Aunque no lo creas, a tu alrededor hay arquitectura efímera, más de lo que imaginas. No hace falta ir muy lejos para verlo: conciertos, eventos deportivos, pabellones de exposiciones, actividades políticas, entre otros.
Incluso, la arquitectura efímera suele imponerse en espacios abiertos. Y es que uno de sus características principales es el cubrir necesidades específicas. Una vez que finaliza la actividad, esta obra temporal pasa a ser desmontada, quedando solamente el recuerdo y el contenido audiovisual del mismo.
Ahora puedes entender que casi a diario ves arquitectura efímera pero no lo percibes, en especial porque hasta ahora no sabías que ese era su nombre. Sin embargo, así se le conoce en el mundo del arte, por lo que no existe problema alguno para aplicarlo en la vida diaria.
Un concepto algo antiguo
Existen datos históricos que revelan la aplicación de la arquitectura efímera en tiempo pasado. En específico, esta era usada para preparar las ciudades durante la visita de un Rey u otra personalidad importante. Era muy común ver este tipo de arquitectura durante el Imperio Romano. Ya para esa época se usaba el concepto de la creación de una estructura con tiempo de vigencia. Hoy en día esta idea sigue estando presente.
En el pasado, este tipo de arquitectura era muy empleado en celebraciones y rituales de cualquier índole. La arquitectura efímera daba lugar a una escenografía especial para dichos festejos o celebraciones. A lo largo de la Edad Media, las construcciones temporales se realizaban por algún motivo de celebración. Así también, se sabe que durante la época del Renacimiento se daban este tipo de construcciones temporales.
No obstante, hoy en día este concepto arquitectónico se lleva a cabo bajo otra definición. Lo efímero abarcar ciertas funcionalidades que implican diversos experimentos sobre el diseño y el modo en que actualmente comprendemos el espacio.
Hoy en día las construcciones temporales mantienen una intención lúdica. Al mismo tiempo, estas aportan información en la mejora de los espacios. Por ello es normal ver exposiciones y bienales en diferentes lugares del mundo donde se construyen elementos que busquen representar o retratar las ideas y técnicas plasmadas.
Y es que la arquitectura efímera es un concepto que brinda comodidad. De igual forma, otorga una mayor flexibilidad al trabajar un espacio gracias a los materiales usados en su desarrollo.
Materiales usados en la arquitectura efímera
